Built to be a safe place before it's anything else
For a client base defined by crisis, the site had to do more than look good – it had to feel safe. We built a clean, modern design with visuals chosen to speak to a predominantly female client base, separated clearly into sections that inform, encourage, and reassure. An emergency escape button lets a visitor instantly leave the site and clear their visit history – a critical safety feature for anyone browsing while not alone. Multi-page intake forms let women apply for shelter directly through the site, while clear donate and volunteer pathways keep the community engaged in the mission.
What We Discovered
A mission that needed a site as reassuring as it is functional:
- A predominantly female client base in crisis, needing clarity, reassurance, and privacy above all
- Two distinct audiences to serve - women seeking shelter, and the donors/volunteers who fund the work
- A need for a seamless, cross-platform experience accessible from any device, at any moment - safely
What Changed
A site rebuilt around trust, access, and safety.
- Custom WordPress design in a clean, bright, modern style, with a one-click emergency escape button to instantly exit and clear visit history
- Built multi-page intake forms so women could apply for shelter directly online
- Organized clear sections to inform, encourage, and reassure clients, with dedicated volunteer and donation pathways
The Outcome
A digital front door built for someone in crisis:
- A user-friendly, safety-first design that speaks to the organization's client base
- A direct, accessible path to apply for shelter, remotely and privately
- Strategically placed contact options driving donor and volunteer engagement
"Nine years of trust, still going strong."
